BEHIND THE PROJECT
For this logo assignment I decided to create a logo I will begin using for my Substack, YouTube, and bite-sized tutorials offered on Instagram. My goal is to teach solopreneurs, creatives, and anyone else who wants to bring their ideas to life how they can do so through software tutorials, “serious” games, art, etc.
From April 27th, 2024 to March 5th, 2025, I lost all three of my dogs. Riley & Bailey were 14 years old; Emma was my dear daughter who had fought liver disease for almost two years and passed shortly after her 6th birthday. I knew I wanted to include them in the logo because they are an integral part of me, the strategist and the creative behind the organization.
THE INITIAL PROCESS
After playing with our initials, I began looking into “three-headed dog” mythology as I could recall reading something related some time ago. Fluffy, who is used by Dumbledore to guard the trapdoor leading to the Philosopher's Stone in Harry Potter, also came to mind. I stumbled across a Greek Kerberos. The first four letters being a match to the initials I was attempting to use felt like a sign, so I took it. After landing on a name, I began researching logo layouts and representations of the Greek Kerberos. I sketched the above two examples based on my research. Once I was happy with the layout idea, found fonts, and the vector image I complied them together and added texture to the full logo to add depth and character.
